The Fall season is creeping up on us quickly, and with it comes two of my favourite local festivals: The Atlantic FILM Festival, and the Atlantic FRINGE Festival. Both festivals offer me a chance to showcase myself and my talents, thus making me feel even more important. We all win.
This year, I am not partaking in the Fringe fest, but allow me to recommend one show for your viewing pleasure and explain my ties to said show…
- My ladyfriend, Kristin Slaney, is one of the beauties to star in the play.
- My good friends, Jessica Barry, Rebecca Falvey, John Han & Meghan Hubley are the other beauties.
- I designed the poster for this show (seen below).
- I took production photos of this show (also seen below).
The show in question is 11:11, created by all of the wonderful people listed above. Check out the poster I created below (click for larger view)…

I saw a scene from the show earlier today when I took production photos, and I was genuinely excited about what they have created.
During the Summer months, 4 out of 5 of the cast members taught theatre school to children & teenagers at Neptune Theatre School, and from what I have seen & heard of the play, it seems they have really managed to take that experience and build this great, inventive piece that truly reflects the energy and magic of those “wonder years” without alienating us big grown-ups.
Hannah and Veronica, the world’s two loveliest sisters, have always believed in magic, moon sprites, superheroes and each other. But a tragedy is upon them: Hannah is on the verge of her 13th birthday, a time when boys and make-up erode the power of dreams. What happens when the wish to grow up comes true earlier than it was supposed to, and what do you leave behind? An original play, featuring all original music. Make a wish on “11:11″ at this year’s Atlantic Fringe Festival.
The show runs September Thursday 3rd 8:50PM, Saturday 5th 6:50 PM, Sunday 6th 3:10 PM AND 7:30 PM, Monday 7th 2:20PM, Tuesday 8th 7:20 PM, Thursday 10th 7:20 PM, Saturday 12th 8:00 PM, Sunday 13th 3:40 PM at The Bus Stop Theatre; admission is merely $6, so I strongly suggest you check it out.

Look at all them pretty people!
PS. Amanda “The Way I See It” Campbell (that’s her blog’s moniker, not a rude nickname), has also featured the 11:11 gang with an indepth interview over at her theatre blog: http://www.twisitheatreblog.com/

The TV Party at Gus’ Pub came and went and I had a wonderful time! So wonderful, in fact, that I decided to post my set (verbatim) on to the internatz for all to enjoy…

Once again, the best nerd show ever, Attack of the Show has featured one of Jason Eisener’s shorts as part of their Around the Net segment. This time, THE NUMBER TO HEAVEN was featured in the #2 spot; to be fair, #1 was a clip of a dancing girl falling through a glass table.
And even though super-nerd-queen Olivia Munn was hosting the show this time (she was on vacation when Treevenge was featured), my beautiful face was hidden inside that hideous monster suit, and as a result, I remain unknown to her majesty.

I love you Olivia…

Tomorrow night (Wednesday the 19th), one of the raddest things in Halifax, TV PARTY, a night of found footage once a month at Gus’ Pub (2605 Agricola Street), will be happening hosted by Mark Black and Stephan MacLeod of Windom Earle. Tomorrow night, I will be one of the guest-hosts (along with local filmmaker Jeff Coll) and I will be presenting a collection of videos found by myself.
That plus: CHEAP DRINKS!

Here is a link to the Facebook page for the event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=137379995736

Last year, Jason Eisener created a (very) short-film called REPORT CARD (click here to watch it) for Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. The short film was created as an entry for the festival’s Filmmaker Frenzy contest, in which filmmakers have to create a 30 second film that says “Fantastic” at some point. Simple enough.
Well this year, he has created THE NUMBER TO HEAVEN.
I managed to acquire heat-exhaustion sitting in that damned suit, so either click the damned photo or the damned video below to watch it!
And make sure to rate it when done!

Each and every year, dozens upon dozens of local filmmakers are informed that due to an “overwhelming” amount of submissions, their film will not be screened at the Atlantic Film Festival. Two years ago, I was one of them (rightly so).
Well it’s that time of year again; and with the AFF’s announcement that The Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day will be opening the festival, the news of film’s fates has been sent out via email, carrier pigeon or some other archaic form of transporting heartbreak.
Paul McLeod’s Headrush which I starred in (apparently, I didn’t star hard enough) alongside Evany Rosen and Matthew Nette has been rejected. Sad face.
Another film that got it’s ass rejected was one that I had absolutely nothing to do with other than I work with it’s creator,
Daniel Boneschansker. Boneschansker, who I have effectionately titled “Bone-Shanker” is currently studying film at NSCAD.

The short film titled “Putting Out Fire With Gasoline” is easily one of my favourite shorts I’ve seen locally produced, and now I really want someone to paint my face like a cat. Check out the flick below…

The full schedule for the 29th Atlantic Film Festival should be made available sometime in the next couple weeks; I’m just praying that they include Winnebago Man.

I recently spent an afternoon running around and dancing for a filmmaking experiment. Local filmmaker Daniel Jardine created a tri-rig where he had 3 cameras mounted together. Here are the sweaty results…
Keep in mind, this is me at maximum funk.

A couple weeks back, I mentioned on this very blog that cult-phenomenon/epic party-er Andrew WK was coming to Halifax to grace us with his intensity.
He came, he went, and I had one of the best nights of my life. Below, is a series of photos too great not to share. Memories supplied by my dear friend Michael Russel… PARTY HARD!
…oh, and before you ask, yes, the headband was necessary.

…Yes, that’s my chin he’s tickling.

I cannot believe that this photo exists.

This photo was taken on-stage. Fuck you Security.

Such a fun night.
Also, I’m happy to announce that AndrewWK has Twitter, and you need to follow him, here is an excerpt…
Despite what you may’ve heard, Monday is actually the best day to PARTY! Spread the word so we all have a Funday, not just a “Monday”.
