Entries from April 2009
Dear internet friends,
My batteries just died in my Xbox controller and I am too lazy to go fetch some more at the convenience store (apparently not convenient enough). Time for some sweet sweet blog-love, something that I have discovered is becoming harder and harder to sit down and actually do ever since the weather has started co-operating with my demands.
Welcome to the new blog layout!.. Does it make me look fat? I hope so.
Earlier today I found myself schlepping around downtown Halifax in a hoodie and jogging pants (the gross kind with all the wrong stains). The moral of this story is that the pants I wanted to wear are now too tight for my waist, so I said fuck it, and downgraded myself to “jogging pants” status for the afternoon.

I’m slowly feeling my body change; jiggling in new parts when I move quickly, sweat more when I exert too much energy, or feel my belly warm up when I sit around for too long. I apologize if anyone finds this division of my blog to be exploitative towards the overweight community, but I am simply amazed at the body’s capacity for change with a few extra peanut butter sandwiches and a tub of “The Incredible Bulk”.
Anyways, it’s another beautiful day, I’m off!
Three things to improve your today:
- Go out and rent JCVD! A phenomenal film that is impossible to describe without having your brain getting fed up with you.
- Did you know that Gary Oldman played a dwarf in a film called Tiptoes? Neither did I. But here’s the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukRdEVthmWM Amazing.
- Tonight is the very last Thrillema in Dartmouth! Conan The Barbarian screens at 9:00pm!

Ten days since my last post?! Absurd!
To remedy this awful blog-maintenance, I hope to please you with a variety of project news…
-Operation Beefcake (quick recap) is my attempt to gain roughly 40 pounds of fat and/or muscle for an upcoming film. As of last Sunday (my last visit to a house with a scale), I am weighing in at 160 pounds, that’s 15 pounds worth of gross that I’ve added since beginning Operation Beefcake just over a month ago!

Special thanks goes to…

Banana shakes fo’ life!
-Thrillema (quick recap) is a group of awesome people who bring 35mm film prints to Dartmouth for the masses to enjoy in an film-viewing experience that can only be matched by pro-wrestling and monster trucks! For those of you who were lucky enough to snag tickets to Jurassic Park at the Thrillema, you saw my ass get eaten by a dinosaur (played by Andy the Handy Alligator)!
April 30th, Thrillema is showing Conan the Barbarian as their last screening in Dartmouth (before moving over to Halifax).

-Cory Bowles‘ short film Righteous is set to start shooting the first week of June!
-IMDb has updated my page by adding Phone Whores (2007), the short film I did that was directed by Daniel Gaynor. I’m in the process of re-submitting my proposal to get an IMDb credit for Grindhouse, because Hobo With a Shotgun was attached to the film (in Canada). So if you have an account with IMDb, I ask you do me a solid and submit a credit application for Grindhouse for me. But why? Because it looks good on a resume.
It’s a beautiful day outside, so I’m gonna stop typing now. Have a good one and keep doing it for the lulz.
PS. This is the 100th blog post! Celebrate?

Here’s a screen shot of my smug mug sharing prime internet space with Zac Efron, Christopher Lloyd, Amy Poehler, and some other schmucks!

First off, in regards to yesterday’s post, APRIL FOOLS. LAWLZ! Moving on…
This Saturday, April 4th, 7:00pm at Empire Park Lane Cinemas as part of the Halifax Independent Film Festival, you can see two films that I’m a part of as well as numerous others as part of the festival’s Best of Nova Scotia Screening.

The two films I’m in are Jason Eisener’s Treevenge and Jeff Wheaton’s Le Chien, which tells the tale of a dog writing a letter to a former owner in a cry for help. This was the film I did with Jeff for an exhibition at the Argyle Fine Art Gallery and Saturday night will be my first time seeing the film, so I’m excited!
I asked Jeff for a screen shot to chuck up on the blog, and he sent me this very Parisian sketch instead. I like it.

Also included in the night’s lineup is Andy Bush’s Film 5 Production Pawnshop starring Matt Amyotte, Joey Adrian MacNeil’s Paper Hearts, and many friggin’ more! Tickets are $10.00. Get your ass a ticket!
